The timing chain is not ordinarily a function that needs replacing. As far as time replacing it that really depends more on your experience level and if you have all the correct tools. If you do I would recommend using a Haynes or like manual.

Overhead Cam motors, like the Chrysler 4.vii & 2.seven and the Ford iv.6 are notorious for needing timing chains. Overhead cam motors similar these motors need to be avoided. It'due south cheaper to replace them than repair them. If you lot happen to have one......believe me when I tell you lot...........alter the oil every 3000 or run amsoils all-time oils if you like synthetic. People who remember a timing chain doesn't demand replacing only know about overhead valve motors. They don't sympathise overhead cam motors.

Then remove the accessory items from the front of the engine. Use a special puller for the crank pulley. Chrysler has a special tool to grasp the crank pulley. And so remover the valve covers. Use a spanner wrench to concur the cams in place when you remove the cam sprocket bolts. Then you lot can remove the idler sprocket for the three bondage. Hope this helps. @TonyB1228 yes only make certain y'all are tdc earlier doing it and !!cheque tdc of all sprockets earlier closing up!!. must remove timing cover tho !!!Paw Plough ENGINE ATLEAST four TIMES!!!Before cranking engine
